| Haven, Nevada, established in 1956 with the building of its resident prison, is situated 8 miles north of Fallon, Nevada, on highway 95. It boasts a population of 2,076 people as of the 2010 census, not counting the prisoner population. It is sometimes confused with nearby neighbor Hazen, Nevada. Due to its low population, including a small number of children, education is provided by busing to Fallon. The largest source of employment for residents is the government, at either USP Haven, Purgatory, or Naval Air Station Fallon to the south. Many employees of Purgatory use NAS Fallon as the cover for their real job.
